The best laid plans....

It has occurred to me several times this past year that the plans you make for yourself don't always pan out! I know that this should've occurred to me a whole lot sooner, but I'm slow I guess :)

Well first of all, after having two beautiful boys, Corey and I decided that we had our plate full for the moment and if we decided to have a third child it would be a few years in the future. Well, that plan was changed when two little pink lines appeared on a stick in February. I dealt with the fact that my plan wasn't playing out perfectly, but we were just as thrilled to be adding to the family now instead of in the future.

Our second plan was that we would wait until the birth of our third child and be surprised to see if it was a boy or girl! We assumed he/she was healthy and were very laid back about the whole thing, being that we'd "been there, done that". Unfortunately, we were all too naive and when we went for our 20 week ultrasound we discovered that the baby had several cysts on the brain. When we went to the specialist to get things checked out, it was all too obvious that our surprise was in fact a BOY!!! I guess hoping for a surprise on the gender front seems all too unimportant now that we are faced with "complications". While we are more than thrilled to have another sweet boy to love, we are definitely focused first and foremost on him being born as healthy as his brothers!!

So the point of this entry is not to dwell on the plans that didn't pan out, but to be glad that they didn't and to know that there is a reason for that. I'm so glad that we didn't wait a few years to have a baby, and I'm thrilled that we are going to have a chance to raise three HEALTHY boys. I guess it is true that if you want to make God laugh, then tell him your plans!

  1. My mom always said never say "I will never," because it will happen...and it usually does. Funny how that all works. :)Wow, you and Kelly with 3 boys!...and someone told me there was a shortage of boys in the world. Not here in Paulding County. :)
